What a well system needs, and when it fails.
A private well system is simple until it is not. A pump lifts water from the Floridan aquifer, a pressure tank stores it and holds steady pressure, and a switch tells the pump when to run. When any one of those fails, the house loses pressure or the pump runs constantly.
The classic Plant City failure is a pressure problem on a freezing night. When growers across Dover and the east county pump hard for frost protection, the shared aquifer level drops around every nearby well. In January 2010 it fell as much as sixty feet and dried more than seven hundred fifty households for a time.
The key thing to know is that the cold does not damage the pump. Running dry does. If a freeze night takes your pressure, switch the pump off at the breaker so it is not grinding against nothing, wait for the level to recover, and call if it does not come back.

The symptoms separate them. Rapid clicking on and off usually means a waterlogged pressure tank. No water at all can be the pump, the switch or a tripped breaker. Pressure that fades over a dry spell can be the aquifer dropping, not a fault.
